THE INFLUENCE OF FAMILY ENVIRONMENT ON CHILDREN’S PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

The authors, in this article, write about the important contribution of the home environment to children's psychological growth. The authors examine the impact of emotional climate, communication styles, and child-rearing practices on self-esteem, empathy, and emotional stability of the child. Research indicates that a positive family environment promotes confidence, social adjustment, and mental well-being, but negative milieus provoke anxiety, aggression, and low self-esteem. The article also identifies the contribution of parental psychological literacy and cultural values to the creation of an equilibrated family environment. Practical recommendations on how to foster family communication and emotional climate are provided.
