EFFECTIVENESS OF COOPERATIVE LEARNING IN TEACHING SPEAKING IN ENGLISH CLASSES

Abstract

  This article explores the effectiveness of cooperative learning in teaching speaking skills in English classes. Cooperative learning, a collaborative teaching approach, provides students with opportunities to practice language in authentic and interactive settings. The article highlights the numerous benefits of this method, including enhanced communication skills, increased student motivation, and the promotion of social and interpersonal abilities. Additionally, cooperative learning fosters peer feedback, critical thinking, and cultural awareness while ensuring equitable participation for students of all proficiency levels. By engaging in collaborative tasks such as group discussions, role plays, and problem-solving activities, students develop fluency, accuracy, and confidence in spoken English. The findings emphasize the transformative impact of cooperative learning on language acquisition and its role in preparing students for real-world communication. This approach not only improves speaking proficiency but also nurtures essential skills for lifelong learning and global interaction.
