Abstract: This article investigates the symbolic meanings embedded in ethnic place names in Uzbek and English linguistic traditions. Ethnic toponyms function not only as geographical identifiers but also as carriers of collective memory, cultural identity, historical consciousness, and social ideology. The study comparatively analyzes the semantic, historical, and ethnolinguistic dimensions of ethnic place names in both languages through linguocultural and comparative approaches. Particular attention is given to the symbolic representation of ethnicity, tribal identity, migration, religion, and socio-political transformations reflected in place names.
