Abstract. This study investigated the effects of storage duration on seed germination energy and germination percentage of mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) and soybean (Glycine max L.) varieties. Seeds of mung bean varieties Navro‘z, Durdona, Radost, Zilola, and Marjon, as well as soybean varieties To‘mariz MAN-60, Sellekta, Vilona, Sochilmas, and Ehtiyoj, were evaluated after one, two, and three years of storage. The results showed a gradual decline in seed viability with increasing storage duration. In mung bean, the average germination energy decreased from 74.6% in the first year to 64.4% in the third year, while germination percentage declined from 97.2% to 83.2%. Among the mung bean varieties, Radost and Zilola exhibited the highest storage tolerance. In soybean, a more pronounced reduction was observed, with germination energy decreasing from 76.0% to 51.6% and germination percentage from 97.2% to 68.0% over the three-year storage period. The varieties Sellekta and Vilona demonstrated superior storage performance compared to the other soybean varieties. The findings indicate that seed aging processes intensify with prolonged storage and that varietal differences play an important role in maintaining seed viability. Radost, Zilola, Sellekta, and Vilona may therefore be recommended as promising genotypes for long-term conservation in gene banks and for use in breeding programs.
