Abstract: The digital economy has become one of the main drivers of economic growth and sustainable development in the twenty-first century. Rapid technological progress, internet penetration, digital financial systems, and artificial intelligence are transforming traditional economic structures worldwide. In developing countries, digital transformation creates new opportunities for productivity growth, business innovation, and public service modernization. Uzbekistan has identified digital transformation as a strategic priority and has implemented large-scale reforms to accelerate digital infrastructure and technological integration across sectors. This study analyzes the major development trends of the digital economy in Uzbekistan, focusing on current achievements, structural changes, opportunities, and existing challenges. The research integrates international literature with Uzbek economic studies and national policy documents. A qualitative research methodology based on descriptive, analytical, and comparative approaches was applied. The findings indicate that Uzbekistan has made notable progress in e-government, digital payments, fintech, IT services, and digital entrepreneurship. However, challenges such as infrastructure inequality, digital literacy gaps, cybersecurity risks, and shortage of highly qualified specialists remain significant. The study concludes that strengthening digital infrastructure, education, and innovation ecosystems will be essential for sustainable digital economic growth in Uzbekistan.
