FREQUENCY OF MAJOR BRONCHOPULMONARY DISEASES AMONG MILITARY PERSONNEL
Abstract
The issue of chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is considered one of the most challenging problems in therapeutic practice due to the high prevalence of bronchopulmonary diseases. Chronic nonspecific lung diseases range from 14.8% to 60% and are associated with increased mortality rates. The aim of this study is to analyze the prevalence and structure of major bronchopulmonary diseases among military personnel and improve preventive measures. The study examined cases of community-acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, and COPD among military personnel in the Central Military Clinical Hospital. Comprehensive examinations, including general tests, radiography, and spirometry, were conducted. It was found that the prevalence of chronic nonspecific lung diseases and community-acquired pneumonia among military personnel is lower compared to the general population.
